The Beginning
Hello!
For a long time, I had an idea for RTS game. In the last months, I've started to work on it. Now I'm learning Unity. I have a lot of experience in programming. But not in gamedev. So still need to learn a lot.
I want to make a prototype for an experimental RTS. A mix of classic rts games and grand strategies. I'm new in gamedev and I understand that I will fail if I'll start with it. So I want to start with a very small primitive RTS game. I always loved the movie Army of Darkness. So I want to make a small tribute to it. The idea is simple: evil forces storm the castle to get the ancient book. The player commands the evil army. For now, I want to keep it very simple: tilemap, 2-3 types of units, no heights...
What I really lack is graphics, music, and media resources. I can model in Blender. I've tried to make pixelart before but for me it's much harder than 3d modeling. Though in the last two months my wife started to learn Blender and she has good progress. I know a bit of music theory and know a bit of Ableton. So I plan to make music myself. Don't know yet what to do with SFX.
I've just started my youtube channel. I created the first video and I hate how I talk. I'm not a native speaker. So the first thing I want to do is to improve my English (pronunciation, confidence, clarity). And I already see that this will be very slow. That's why I want to practice creating text in English. I'll post here a couple of times a week reporting my progress on the game.
Now I'm working on a grid system. My wife is started to learn animation. So in the next post I hope to show you some assets.
